So I think this thread might be a year or two late, but we have a grant to get a VHS to DVD converter. Does anyone have any suggestions on relatively nice hardware? I have no idea where to begin.
Thanks much |

Are the Video Tapes copy pertected with macrovision?
if not one of these units work great. my dad had the Sansui VRDVD4005 DVD Recorder - VCR Combination. (orion makes it) http://hometheater.about.com/od/dvdh...rrecorders.htm http://hometheater.about.com/cs/topp...vdrecorder.htm |

If they are protected and the VHS to DVD recorder doesnt work, you still have another option. Get a TV tuner card (these things are cheap), plug a VCR into it and encode away. The All-In-Wonder capture cards have this option as well. But the converters mentioned in the earlier replies are your best bet.. this is only if you have protected tapes you cant copy any other way. My Leadtek WinXP TV tuner decodes into DivX and Xvid and then i burn to dvd.. its nice
