Would you buy a demo RP tv?

the local audio/video store has a demo Sony KF42WE610 42 Inch HDTV WEGA LCD Rear Projection for about $1900.

I sure they would deal but I'm worried about getting a demo.

Also, after reading reviews, apparently this model goes through bulbs light crazy. Advice? I like either that or the 36" FD Trinitron® WEGA® HDTV

Can you get an extended warranty with it?

If so... I'd go for it... if that is what ya want.

Doesn't seem like a deal to me, especially with the wide screen format. When you're watching in non wide screen, it's probably equal to a 32".

Last time I was in Sam's Club, they had better prices than that for larger LCDs.

That's a good price.

50" Sony LCD RPTV new at Best Buy can be had as low as $2800.

The replacement bulbs cost $200.

I don't think it's a good deal. Did you ask the saleman/woman how long it was on the floor?

good question. it looks like it's in great shape. no scratches, nicks, etc. but if the bulb's already a year old...

and df....i can get a 2 year warranty. in this case, i'm with you in regards to buying the extended warranty.

Yeah, the only thing you need to worry about is the bulb going out if it's okay cosmetically. No burn-in issues (that plasmas have) with RPTV. So as long as you make sure bulbs are covered in the warranty, you'll be fine.

I'm 90% sure that CC and BB warranties don't cover bulbs after 90 days, so YMMV with this store.

STOP!

DO NOT PASS GO. DO NOT COLLECT $200.

http://image.compusa.com/retail/emai...last_377fl.pdf (pdf)

$2199 for the Panny 50" LCD RPTV at CompUSA
Pricematch to Sears using this method: http://www.fatwallet.com/t/18/434163/

If you don't have a Sears card yet, it can be had as low as $19XX otherwise with the PM, it's $2150ish

plasma burn in is not as bad as some would let you believe, and fully avoidable.

I agree if it's a new unit and the consumer has control of it.

However, a demo plasma has had who-knows-what displayed for who-knows-how-long. To a trained eye, you could spot problems.

With an extended warranty like DF said, that should help in case any problems arise.
