Optimum Viewing Distances from TVs

I was reading a small article concerning the ideal viewing distances from a TV. I am not sure if it also concerned computer monitors.

It stated that 3 times the screen size is the minimum distance and 6 times is the maximum. So if that also applies to computer monitors, then I should sit 45 inches away from a 15" screen or 51 inches away from a 17" screen? I don't think so.

It applied to TVs because of the lower resolutions. You could view HDTVs at closer distance than you could with regular TVs.

Nah, doesn't apply at all.

i remember growing up if you watched tv too close, mom always said youre gonna need thick glasses...
