Comcast DVR

Ok, so I went ahead and signed up for the Comcast DVR, since for 6 months it was only like $8 more a month. Anyone have any experience with this particular DVR? The box itself is a Motorola 6412. I've looked around, and it looks like many people are happy with it. I got it for the dual-tuner recording (it can also record HDTV, but I don't have an HDTV).

I think I even found out how to enable the 30-second skip button!

Anyway, anyone have one of these and have any opinions?

I have one but with the pioneer passport software. I've had it for a few months now and I'm very happy with it. I think yours will have the iGuide software. It's a good box.. I don't think you will be dissappointed.

Ok, I got it last weekend, and so far I like it, except:

1) I got a crappy ICX remote instead of the silver "Comcast" one. The only reason this matters is because there's a 30-second skip button that you can program on the comcast remote.

2) Series Recording SUCKS! For instance, I want to record every new Simpsons at 7:00 on Sunday. There are also reruns of the Simpsons on Fox at 5 and 6 every day. Since these reruns don't specifically state "Repeat", it records them ALL! So instead of the one Simpsons that I want, I get ALL simpsons on Fox. There's no way whatsoever to tell it to only record new ones at a certain day and time.

Quite frankly, #2 is a huge problem for me. I don't want to have to remember every week to record Simpsons. If they don't get this fixed in the next month or two, then I'm just going to stick with my ReplayTV and return this.

Series recordings work great for me, but there's huge differences since mine is on the Passport software.

Call Comcast and complain.. Comcast works directly with the folks at iGuide and should be able to get that type of stuff fixed. They are probably already working on it, but I doubt you will see a fix for it real soon.

The 6412 is a relatively new box, so it definitely still has some maturing to do. Your ReplayTV is definitely going to work more reliably.
