Can that Phillips 32PT740H99 do 720p?

On the web site and pdf spec sheet, it lists 1080i and 480p. What would it do with a HD 720p signal?

I don't want to sound contrary, but I am thinking of buying the TV.

Are you sure it will upconvert a 720p (fox sports) to 1080i? That seems kinda tricky for a lower-end set.

I doubt it does. It probably cannot recognize it.

What you want to do is simply set your HD set top box to output 1080i.

That was what I meant. The TV itself doesn't have a HD tuner so it depends on the signal from the HD box (set to 1080i).

Thanks for the input. I've decided to wait a little while longer, until the nice Toshibas show up with hot deals at onecall again.
