Media Expanders/Receivers

I'm curious if anyone has tried or uses those "media expanders/receivers" or extenders that many companies sell to connect their media library with the rest of their home systems? My step mother happens to like to listen to a certain station from where we used to live and is in fact a "patron" of that station. Unfortunately, the only way for her to listen is on the computer which limits the amount of time she is able to hear it and confines her to the computer setup in the home library. (Better speaker setup on this one)

I was thinking of buying her a media extender/receiver for Hannukah, but wanted to know if these things were worth the money? I figure I can attach it to our whole home audio system and this way she can listen to it anywhere in the house. Here a couple of examples of these things but hopefully someone has some hands on experience with them so they would already be familar with at least one and could make a recommendation.

I used circuit city as a quick way to get a couple of exemplars, but would definitely not have any problem looking at one that I havent listed. Trying to get the best quality/sound/ease of use for the buck. This is for someone who is not technically minded but at the same time is not afraid of computers/electronics.

FYI, the house is wireless with a Pre-N system which works flawlessly everywhere.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I think you can do it with one of these: LINK
Adjust for length (with an extension 3.5mm if you have to go really long) and maybe get a 3.5mm jack splitter

To clarify, the home theater set up is approximately 200 ft+ from the computer. (Walking distance as neither I or your suggested cable could get there any other way.) Hence the reason for the WIRELESS media extender/receiver.

I purchased one of the Netgear units (first link), only to discover it did not work with a high bitrate source. Catch is, every CD I own has been archived into my PC in WMA lossless format.

Shortly after that, I bought a TiVo and used it for the same function. So I can't give a good comment on any of them... just a tip on their limitations.

At 200 feet, you might need a repeater for sure.

Its a Pre-N network, works well over VERY long distances. Currently in a different building about 100 yds from router through 2 exterior walls without any problems. (courtyard type house if you can visualize it)
