Phillips 50" Plasma vs Toshiba 62" DLP

We're trying to decide between the Phillips 50" Plasma and the Toshiba 62" DLP. Both have HDMI Input and a cable card slot.

Anyone here have experience with either set? We're planning to replace our analog 52" Mitsubishi that we've had for years with zero problems.

DLP, all day long. IMO it's a better mix of price/quality/screen size.

Both the Toshiba and Samsung units are good. The 1080p sets aren't overly expensive, either; the Samsung 6168 can be had for around $3,000.

The Toshiba DLP is great, I'd get that over the Philips plasma.

The Vizio 50" is actually a pretty good plasma. I still like the Panasonic more, but the Vizio is surprisingly competent.

Talking

I got one of the woot TVs and love it. There have been manu posts about issues with it. I personally think its another one of those internet things where 90% of people with problems post while (ill bet) less than 5% of the poeple without problems post. So I didnt worry about it. For me it was the ability to hang on the wall. What you have to remember on this TV is that its a 10,000 dollar TV. It has a gazillion features in comparison to other HD TVs besides just being 7 inches thick. It has a full sized wireless keyboard with mouse and web browser bult in (limited use though cause it doesnt accept cookies or vidio/audio), and HDMI, Firewire, and an internal analog and HD tuner. I will also say that it is amazingly bright. I have my bulb setting on low and it still is plenty bright.
If I were to have any complaints they would be
1. It only has 1 HDMI input
2. Web browser needs cookies support.
3. Screen is to darned big. Sometimes I get dizzy looking all over it to get all the input into my brain. Especially football.

You can buy it from woot all the time at thier secret probation website: http://www.woot.com/special.aspx?k=VIP-TV
also check out the web site devoted to the TV:

Cool... yet I'm still trying to dissuade myself from buying any HDTV for yet a few more years.

I haven't been totally convinced to drop the cash yet... still to much "uncertainty" out there for me.

I agree... prices will come down and quality will increase. No rush for me. Well maybe a little. I've got a house to fill.

Woot will not be selling the SP61MD10 anymore. This past Monday was the last day to grab one if you wanted it.
