Question about svideo & buzzing

Ok, so right now, we have a tv with front & back composite hookups (umm, the red, white & yellow, if I'm wrong about the name). It also has an svideo hookup in the back.

We have 2 DVRs from Cox hooked into those composite hookups.

My computer is hooked up to an svideo cable so when I want to watch something from my computer on the tv, we hookup the svideo and unhook the composite cables on the back.

So here's my question...

When the svideo cable is hooked up, the tv makes a low buzzing noise. I have to mute it or turn it all the way down so it won't be heard (since the sound for the ep is coming through my computer speakers).

Why is it making that buzzing noise and is that normal? If not, how can we fix it?

TIA!

Could be interference from another cable or it could be a crappy quality cable...I'm not sure of which.

When you hook up that s-video cable, is it running alongside any other cables? That can generate the 'buzz' (interference).

If she's using svideo, then there is nothing driving the audio inputs. They are basically just antennas picking up whatever EM field is floating around.

I mean, if you tune to a video source with nothing driving it, you just see static, right?

I think that muting the TV is right thing to do.

Leave the red and white plugs in- that may take care of it.
