Niko 26" LCD TV on deals page
any reviews on this?
does it make any difference that it's 15x9 rather than 16x9? i heard terrible things about tigerdirect rebates too. but i may take a risk on a $100 one.

Although this may be an amazing TV, I gotta remind you that 26" will seem very small very soon. My 24" monitor used to seem absolutely huge, but not anymore. If you're gonna use this as a TV and you're serious about watching movies/sports, you most certainly want to go bigger, no matter how small your room is.
When it comes to electronics upgrades, I believe it's always wise to upgrade less frequently and take big steps. That way I believe the impact of obsolescence is minimized. Wait for a while and get something at least 30"+. |

I ran into the same thing as well. I bought a 26" widescreen CRT Samsung high def set that I thought would be great for the bedroom. Wrong! Widescreen content such as DVD or off-air HD (this one has built-in HD) is okay, but fall back to 4:3 and ouch! Might as well have a cheap 19" set for TV viewing. |

I'd rock the 26inch LCD as a computer monitor though

I've noticed that widescreen models are subjectively much smaller than 4:3. A 27" 4:3 looks a helluva lot bigger than a similarly sized 16:9.
I'm waiting for a good TV at a good price when I have good money. ![]() That InFocus one that shows up on Woot! once/month or so looks pretty good to me. Awfully thin for a DLP. I know it's been discussed before, but can any experts here comment? Something that thin and BIG that can be hung on a wall and NOT a plasma (reading...cheaper, like $2000 or whatever, with $5 shipping) sounds pretty good. I dunno. ![]() |

Watching TV will seem more wholesome on a fullscreen, but a widescreen movie will obviously fit much larger in a widescreen monitor. I did the math and figured out that my 24" widescreen monitor will display a widescreen movie the same size as on a regular 26" TV, which would be huge. My monitor fits nicely on my desk. I watch mostly movies and rarely watch TV so I save a lot of space for the same size display.
