I need a deal for a Motorola TimePort P8767 with Verizon Wireless on Long Island, NY. I found it for $190 at http://www.cellmania.com but it says that it's not available in my area.

Thanks!

I live on the west coast and I was able to get that phone for $99. Here's the catch... It was a new account (not existing), 2 year contract and I convinced the sales dude to give me the "corporate" account rate. Then he applied the applicable promo credits and the phone cost $99 w/ no account activation fees. So I bought two of them. The funny thing was that this scam was run through an authentic Verizon store, not an affilitated mom-and-pop place. It worked for me......

heh. i went to the verizon store by my house and they wouldn't lower the price by any amount, even when i told them i had found it for $190 with a new plan at http://www.cellmania.com.

I didn't see anything on Verizon's web site about discounts for billing the phone to a company (I can put the phone under my father's business name if necessary)

I would give it a try. Next time you go into the store, tell them you want a phone for yourself, however you'd like to know how to get a corporate account rate if use use your father's bizz as the "buisiness name".

Things may be different here in the San Farancisco Bay Area though. Verizion is a fairly new company (since last summer) out here and they may bee tossing out all kinds of promos to lure customers away from other providers.

Have you used this phone (Timeport)before?

My local Verizon store won't do anything on the price (they want $250 for it), even if it is a corporate account. I did find an independent Verizon dealer in my area who will give me the phone for $180.

I haven't used the TimePort before, but my last phone was a StarTac and I was very happy with it. Milenko, how do you like the TimePort?

I had the Nokia 6160 for about two yeas before I decided to get a "flip" phone. So far I like it very much. The sound clarity is far superior to the Nokia. The feel is a little 'flimsy' but you get used to that. The annoying thing is that the flimsiness causes alot of plastic "creaking" while talking on the phone. My friend has a StarTac and it felt a bit more stiffer and less flexible. My wife, on the other hand, does not like the Timeport at all. The 3-Color LED screen is crisp, sharp and bright making it easy to read. Considering the price I paid, it is a fantastic phone.

Thanks but I want Verizon b/c they have all the goodies like wireless internet access, and I can use any phone I choose (unlike AT&T who requires you to buy one that they sell). Also, I'd rather go with a more established company.
Verizon just bought A LOT more airspace in New York so I know that coverage will be good. Only thing I don't like is that they have a cancellation fee of $175.

BTW, a friend of mine has a relative that owns a cell phone store so I'm getting that TimePort P8767 for $150.
