Amazon.com - Plextor PlexWriter 161040A 16x10x40 Internal EIDE CDRW Drive for $173.94!!! (Posted by: Leon)
These CD-RWs are getting sooooo stinking fast. I have an 8X writer, and that`s plenty fast for me. This thing writes at 16X!!! On top of that, it uses Sanyo`s BURN-Proof technology which prevents coasters from being made from buffer underruns. Gone are the days of shutting off your screen saver and quitting every single application while burning a disc. You can play Quake 3 Arena while burning (though not recommended). Plextor 161040A CD-RW for $203.94 Use coupon code: DEALMAYTABLE to get $30 off Cost to you: $173.94 plus shipping. |

Hey buddy... do you see a substantial difference between the 12x and the 16x? Money is an issue for me since I work to pay for my college tuition etc.. Thanks for your help in advance.

While Plextor is the best, my beloved 8x Mitsumi has never burned a coaster. It's CloneCD compatible and is much less expensive than the Plextor if you are on a tight budget. You can pick one up off of pricewatch.com in the $80 range.
Thanks, Scojo

i do notice a dif, but if $$$ is a ting I wouldn't get anything that does not have the burnproof.....
the 12x plextor I had burned over 500 CDR's and like ony a few coasters, and they were because I was pushing the system to the limit... one time I installed a USB nic while burning... it didn't like that.... so I would go for the 12x plextor..... |

I got a brand new Iomega 12x10x32 speed burner coming in a few days which I don't need. It is either a Plextor or Sanyo rebadge with burn proof on it. The price is only $140 shipped to you with the USPS money order. I have good references. If you are interested, please email me:
bad_dude@gmx.net Thanks. |
