What are the better, more reliable wireless networking kits out there? Any good deals?

Better & more reliable = more expensive.
The Cisco Aironet and the 3Com AirConnect are my favorites, but you're talking about $600-800 for these guys, and that's just for the WAP - no cards. What's your budget? |

;m not sure about the budget, because I am lloking into this for someone else... could you give me your recommendations for both high and low? Also, how much better are the 3coms and Cisco compared to the linksys and d-links etc? This is for a home network, btw.
Thanks |

Ah, for home it won't make a difference. The higher end WAPs offer better security and managability, and some other neat stuff that most home users just don't care about, like different antenna configurations on the Aironet.
For home use, go with a d-link or linksys. If you're concerned with security, find one that offers 64 or 128 bit WEP encryption, but make sure your card supports the encryption! If you rely on the encryption/decryption to be done with software, your connection will be horrible. |
