I use acculinq, which is a bit of a pain-in-the-ass calling card, but so long as you use the local access numbers, it's a paltry 4 cents a minute. Billed directly to your credit card monthly, and you have to take into account the $1 "service charge" every month, but otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it. If, however, you live outside of a local access number area, it shoots up to 9 cents a minute, still not that bad, but not as good.

Has anyone tried those net-based companies like Net2Phone and such?

yeah all of the net based companies have horrible reception and a couple second delay, there are some other voip companies that say they're better (and use a normal phone) but i haven't had a chance to try them out, plus most of them dont offer service to canada.
im just looking to pay a fee per month (not per minute) no matter how many calls i make, i know they have this service for state to state calls. i was just wondering if anyone knew of one that would let you call to canada, i figure one probably exists and its just not as good a deal as some of the state to state ones. |
