AMEX question
As I know this is how AMEX goes.
I buy a video card at newegg for $100, tax is $8 and shipping is $9. So I pay $117 Total. But then I see a cheaper price at Bobs Computers for $73 +10 shipping and $6.50 tax. So his price is $89.50. (#1)BUT..... AMEX does this.... $117-73 = $44 So I get $44 back (#A)Not Like this.... $117-89.50 = $27.50 Is that right? So what AMEX does is scenario #1 not #A, right? |

As far as I know they dont factor shipping or tax into the accounting, here is how I think it works.
100 dollars initial price, found later at bobs comps for 73, so its 100-73, thus you get 27 bucks back. Anyone else confirm or deny this?

I don't think they factor in tax or shipping currently, but I think they might have originally. About four months ago I bought a visor deluxe for $179 with the @ctivelink modem from CompUSA, the order came to $200 plus change after tax and shipping. Couple months later I found on K-Mart's web site they had the visor deluxe for $99. I pricematched and got a check for $80 plus some change.
That's recent, but about 1.5 years ago I bought a tivo for $299 at circuit city, it had $200 in rebates. I pricematched with some store in florida that had it for $199 in their weekly ad on their web site and I believe I only got a check for $73. Not sure how that worked out but I didn't complain. Either way it's a great deal so why worry about a few bucks. |
