Need: Radar detector for truck

Since I drive about 600 miles a week now, I was thinking about purchasing an inexpensive radar detector.
What's the best out there for the money?

My advice is spend the extra cash on it. I had a whistler 6130, and i was impressed with it when i had it. I paid 70 bucks for it new. It did the job.

Then the internal speaker fried because it was beeping so fast and loud. I tried replacing, but nothing matched the sound of the orginal, and it wasnt worth it to special order the correct speaker.

Then i purchased an escort 7500. I paid 245 after taxes at bestbuy. On the way back from bestbuy to my apartment (60 miles) I did a side by side compare of the 2 detectors. The escort blew the other one away. The escort was able to track several radar signals at once and warn you of the greatest danger, the whistler didnt. The escort also picked up teh signal faster than the whistler. The sensitivity is so much superior. Therre were areas that emmitted x and k band that the whistler never realized existed.

All in all, the extra money means extra sensitivity and extra range. That gives you a longer heads up and thus a longer time to slow down.

If you drive a lot, it's worth buying a Valentine One. It's the only one with little arrows which tell you where the signal is coming from.

If you need this, you already know how valuable this would be . . . sometimes you slow down for a long time trying to figure out if he's behind you, ahead of you, to the right, whatever.

The Valentine One was well worth every penny. Got me out of at least 25 speeding tickets and picked up all the speed traps on my way up to school. Hadn't had a speeding ticket in 3 years since I've had this thing. Before the V1, I had at least 2 speeding tickets a year.

*edit*
Oh yeah, those arrows really help out since cops near me have started to use those damn moving radar guns...

I've avoided many donut dudes coming up from my rear in highway traffic with one of those radar guns with the nice little arrows on the V1.
