Verizon Wireless or AT&T Wireless?
I am located in Cleveland, OH and have been looking for new cell phone service. I want to get the Motorola V60 phone, but I have been going back and forth with which carrier I want to use. Verizon offers decent coverage here (much better than Sprint which I currently have) and they have 3550 minutes for $55. AT&T has 3600 minutes for $49.99 but I am limited to calling from a 5 state area around me. I do not travel that much, but was wondering if anyone might be able to share their experiences with eitehr of these carriers or if they know of any deals. Thanks!

In Las Vegas, I use AT&T
I have the regional plan (the one you are refering to) and it works for me. I love the CS and support. As for IF you ever need to travel out of the area, you can call CS and upgrade your plan to national for that month or weeks you need it and then switch back to regional. (did this when hubby went out of state) As for your area, dunno their service. I would ask around, friends, co workers, classmates, etc and see who they have and their service for a better opinion. |

There are two places which are most important (that is, 90% of your decsion should be based upon these two having good signal): Work and home. Ask around your office people who have cellphones. Then, invite folks over to your place for a beer and call them.
Sometimes your signal will read strong, but the bastards don't have enough lines in. |

I have heard bad things about at&t, and good things about verison. I think it depends where you live, and what phone you have. Some people might live in the same place, but have different quality of reception becuase of the phone they have. While two people might have the same phone and live in different places, might get different reception. I agree with luke, ask around your work, friends, etc.

I have 1t&t regional advantage. I have had it for just over 1 year and my reception went to hell, so I called up AT&T and complained. Turns out my phone was oit of warranty by 11 DAYS!
They ended up sending me a new phone for the price of just shipping. New phone has worked great so far. Verizon in my area is patchy.(They are offered in detroit, and I am 150 miles away from home going to school) I have had friends who get awesome all digital all the time signals, and otheres who can't call out even though they get a signal. My one roommate has it from home and can only place calls using it. It will never recieve a call where we are at. My recomendation is AT&T.

i've had AT&T for a few years now...had Bell/Verizon before. I've had no problems with ATT, i'm located in DC, and can call all the way to pittsburgh and central PA w/o long distance (friends and family there)...also works when i'm in either locations w/o roaming. definitely a plus considering, NO other service i know of works in my folk's hometown...my gf has sprint and says "there are only 2 places that i can't get reception...the desert and your parent's house." my service is nearing it's completion though and i'm thinking about switching back to verizon or voicestream b/c they seem a little more devoted to the wireless data market...so i'm glad this thread came up, i'd like to see what experiences others have had.
so...i'm not sure where i stand...for the money ($40 a month, 400 daytime, 1200 NW) i'm lovin my AT&T plan and reception...however, my next phone will either be a PDA/phone or at least have web capabilities...so i need to make a decision for myself on this same topic...and right now, i don't see AT&T catering to the wireless data market. |

I live in the Detroit area (I used to live in Ann Arbor (50 miles out of the city) and now I live in the Royal Oak area (10 miles out) and I have had Verizon since December of 1996 and have had no problems. I have traveled all over the U.S. and have had no problems other than high bills (roaming, etc.). The truth is, no one can beat Verizon's service. However, they are pricier than the rest of the service providers. Expect to pay about 15-20 bones more than the rate plan you sign up for. It just happens this way, don't ask me why...I still haven't been able to figure it out
