Good Netnews Servers?
Okay, my SBC Ameritech DSL is now live. Not too shabby.
The issue I have now is that their netnews is really awful. "Awful" as in none of the alt.* groups. Even the ones with no porn, pirated or warez stuff. Exactly how harmful *is* alt.tv.game-shows? I found some sites that list open netnews servers, but most of them appear to be taking advantage of bad network administration. I'd like to find a legitimate service. I already use the former deja.com service at Google for browsing, but I would like to be able to use a regular newsreader. I've looked at supernews.com and giganews.com. Does anyone here have any favorites? Thanks!  |

Are you sure? I use SBC Ameritech DSL also, and I've got access to thousands of alt. newsgroups, including the 'questionable' ones. Maybe try a feed from a different city? Try nntp://news.det.ameritech.net
