...newbie, (but long time lurker),...needs Tivo...low price...help...

Just added twins to our family. Bringing the total to 2 adults and 4 kids. Need some assistance in getting Tivo for a LOW price so that I can actually watch a television show again someday.

Thanks in advance.

Unhappy nobody can/will help me, eh?

C'mon, somebody's got to have some suggestions...

I've been to every K-Mart in sight trying to get my hands on one of the $49 TiVo deals...any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

Got|Credit? its the american way right? Costco might have a deal or two, nothing spectacular. Also what are you using for tv? Cable or satelite? Could be either has some promo, might be worth calling them up for. But it comes down to if you can't afford it. . . a vcr and blank tapes still does work in the 21st century

spigidygak,

Do I "Got|Credit?" Yep. Still, I'd like to not go any further into debt if I can help it. If I purchased a brand new TiVo the best I could do would be approximately $260 for the unit, including taxes. Then I either add a monthly payment or shell out another $249 for the lifetime service. Ugh. What do I have for service? Basic cable. I realize there's always the good ol' standby known as a VCR but it's less than convienient considering my family situation these days. TiVo would be enormously convienient and helpful in allowing me to actually keep up with the shows that I'm interested in...without having to sacrifice the time I try to spend with my tribe.

I've been to Costco, Kmart, Walmart, every other 'mart', pawn shops, tried eBay, and seemingly everything else. I've considered the prospect of selling one of my kids but my wife won't commit to that, (JUST KIDDING!!!). I'll keep tryin' and keep hopin' for suggestions.

For what it's worth though, thanks for responding. Even if you're givin' me a hard time, at least you took the time to respond...thanks.

Me too!

I'm looking for some Tivo/ReplayTV deals myself. I have both cable tv, and satellite. I'm also trying to get a solution where I can pipe everything into the tivo/replaytv. I currently have a a/b/c/d switchbox from Radio Shack, that combines them, but I have to switch between satellite, dvd, laser, etc. I know it's not THAT big a deal, just would be a nice perk. Anyone have any luck lately? I'm trying to save my g/f and folks money, as this would be a b-day gift for me! Thanks guys!
