i dunno about Cali, but up here in Seattle AT&T GSM/GPRS coverage *SUCKS*. My GF just bought T68 and switched her account over from TDMA to GSM, and the coverage is about 20% of what TDMA is. Check for coverage first before you spring for GSM vs. TDMA/CDMA.
Just my $.02. |

sorry to go off topic but damn those companies with nice phones and crappy service. However, verizon is getting better on the selection, but no t68i for me for now

I'm from OC also and AT&T sucks in both of its TDMA and GSM services. Even though I don't like Verizon "Can You Hear Me Now?" but I vote for it since its reception is good. The plan is expensive though and no free phone (good one). Don't even try T-Mobile because it sucks big time especially the weekend (from Friday afternoon). My second vote would go to Sprint, which I might go with when my AT&T contract is up in December. I think some Vietnames and Chinese stores have the T68i for free with either T-Mobile or Cingular. I heard the phone sucks though.

No problems with T-mobile yet. Works in my office a feat verizon, att, and sprint could not meet. So I am very happy. And my phone is really cool. Polyphonic ring tones are great. Also when people call you can see a picture of them.
