Question Dell 4550 parts??

I just recently purchased a Dell 4550 and had a couple of questions about the best "parts" to upgrade with:

1. My machine only has a CDRW drive and I would like to buy a second CD drive to burn CD to CD. Anyone have one to sell or know if the best way to find one.

2. Sound card - any recommendations for a compatible sound card on the cheap

3. Memory - I have 256, would like to go to 512, best way? should i go through dell? what are the specs i need to know to buy elsewhere?

Thanks in advance, chris

Buy a cd drive from anywhere you want and install it yourself, not too dificult of an instal. Just make sure you get the jumpers right. Sound card, whats "on the cheap" mean for you? For under $50 check out the sound blaster live! value, decent performer despite the creative driver fun. Memory, you can either go cheap as heck and pick the cheapest at pricewatch.com but I'd recommend buying from crucial memory. FAST service and good service and warranty.

Audigy for $60:

For RAM, www.crucial.com will allow you to enter your system info to determine what you need. FYI, the 4550 uses standard PC2100/PC2700.

Audigy for $49 on the main deals page, but is this how much you want in a "cheap" sound card? You can get much cheaper, let us know what you want to use it for.

About that deal: nice price for a good soundcard. Also, TCWO is a good place to buy from. You could get a cheaper sound card but more compatible or feature rich? Nope.

Why not get a dvd-rom drive? That way you can play both cd's and dvd's. Get the Liteon- its fast and comes with PowerDVD XP 4.0.
