Talking Fujitsu S6110 Laptop or others?

I am thinking of getting the new Fujitsu laptop but I won't mind some opinion on this machine. It costs about $1649 on Fujitsu's website</a> and I was wondering if it's worth its price. I am a student and will be using my laptop mostly for schoolwork. Probably be needing features for MP3s and watching DVDs. Not into games so graphics is not a biggie. I do want something a little lighter than my 7lb, 3-year old Compaq 1200 I have I have right now. If you can recommend something similar and affordable (my budget is about $1600) please let me know too!

here is the website for fujitsu.

Thanks in advance!

any particular reason you're looking at the fujitsu?

i don't really know anything about them, but i would always be wary of the quality of a laptop brand that isn't too common. (but they could be great and i've just never heard of them).

but at that price, i think you might want to shop around a little more. i mean, you're looking at a system with a relatively outdated processor (P3-1.2, whereas you can get a lot of P4-2.0s now) and a small display.

in contrast, some of the dell deals that have been running over the past 2 months or so would give you a lot more computer for $300 to $600 less. especially if you're interested in using it to watch DVDs, you'll want to try for a 14 or 15 inch screen.

also, since it's running winXP, a faster processor would definitely be a plus.

gateway and ibm also make quality laptops, from what i've heard. you might check those out too

I chose this because it was Editor's choice on CNet.com
Also, it is very light in weight.

anyways, I checked out dell.com and looked at Inspiron 4150. What do you guys think of this over Fujitsu Lifebook?

be sure to check out the deals on the inspiron line on today's deals page (although i believe they have run slightly cheaper prices for the 4150 and 8200 at times over the last month, so you may or may not want to wait).
