I am desperate for a 80 (or more) GB hard drive. It must be IDE and I prefer 5400 RPM (It is for my TiVo)
Anyone know of good deals? I cannot get below the $1 per 1GB ratio... TIA Dman33 |

Good question. You see, the TiVo PVRs seem to have ventilation issues which leads to heat buildup within the unit. 5400 RPM drives are preferred because they are cooler, they are generally cheaper, and there is no performance gain as far as the TiVo is concerned. On the other hand, that 100GB WD Drive at CompUSA looks pretty nice, so I am going with it despite the fact that it is 7200 RPM. I will just get an extra fan for the TiVo to keep things cool. |
