Cell phone??
I just finished my contract obligation with voicestream/t-mobile. I'm on a family plan with my parents along with my dad's company phone, with my dad's company paying for most of the bill.
I want to get a great phone, like a S-105 or something. However, I don't think we can cancel our plan and get a new one to get the discounts. Is there another way of getting such a phone cheaply? |

I am sure T-Mobile would love to get you to sign another contract. They will probably offer another deal on a phone if you do.

I've called them already and their phone discounts for a renewal is like $20 off or some crap.

Try one of those really good deals on Amazon. If you were on a family plan where you on the contract? If you werent on the contract you could just do a new activation.

Well...amazon doesn't sell family plans. Plus, I'm not paying anything for my service right now, so signing up for a new plan is not really in my favor.
I'm looking for a good, cheap place to buy a cell phone without a plan. I can just switch the sim card and I would be happy. |

does anybody know of where stand-alone phones without plans can be purchased or perhaps know how to break the codes in phones such as the SonyEricsson t68i?

So are there any stores that JUST sell cell phones? I mean every store I've seen they sell phones with plans. So what do people do when you HAVE a plan and just want a better phone?

Ebay is probably your best bet for a phone. Places do sell them but they cost a pretty penny.
When I added someone to my t-mobile family plan they gave them a free phone ericson T300. Maybe you can remove yourself and then add yourself? |

There ARE stores that will sell you a phone w/o a contract. However, they will jack up the price since they will not be making money on you with a new activation. Most places will jack up the price by about $50 about full retail cost, if not more.

This has worked for myself and a friend. We live in Anchorage and are using AT&T.
I went to my local BestBuy since they sell phones and service for AT&T. It will vary who they work with from city to city. I bought the phone and told them it would be for new service. I already had a service plan with AT&T. The important thing is to not let them activate it there. Just tell them you will activate when you get home. I don't know whether or not they can charge you the difference of full versus discount price if you establish with a different provider. I don't know how they would know. Since I was with AT&T already, all I had to do was have the phone activated. So instead of paying $200 for my phone, I got it for $100. Plus there should be a $50 rebate coming soon. |
