Exclamation Digital Cameras!!!!

Hey All-

I am very interested in buying a digital camera. I particularly like the Canon Digital Elph and the really small Sony camera. I need some advice as to which one is the best for the money as well as where I might find a good deal on a camera.

Should I look at the Dell deals? Or is there a better place. HELP!!!!

Well, if you're into more of a point-and-shoot camera, the Elph series is pretty small. I personally have an Olympus C-2100 which is more of a full-size camera with nice zooming and all that.

So my recommendation is to check out the Olympus cameras.

I have the digital elph S200, 2 megapixel. Best Buy is now discontinuing them, and selling off the open boxed ones (display cameras) for $239 and lower. I have actually seen prices that are lower. If you do not mind a little bit bigger (talking mm bigger) camera (cheaper too), I would look at the Nikon 2100. Kind of wish I bought one now. Nothing wrong with the elph, just not the most user friendly and you have to read the manually before using or you will be lost. the Nikon 2100 is pretty self explanatory out of the box.

A thing to consider when buying a digital camera is use. For me i needed a small camera with descent pictures. The G2 is HUGE, and more on the professional side. Here is a picture that i took with just 2 megapixels (1600x1200):

I thought i would use and need a 3X optical zoom, but really 2X suits me fine. Also the G2 retails at $599.99 and can be found just alittle cheaper online. My camera was about $250-260.

I'm also in the market. I need one with a good zoom tho' since I take a lot of outdoor and sports pix.

I was looking at some of the Olympus C-720/730s but I've heard lukewarm reviews about those.

Looking at that, I guess I really don't need a 5mp camera. I think I like the Nikon 4300 right now- wait until Dell has a sale again.

What do you know- another Dell Camera deal (today only)- I used the $40 off coupon on the Deals page along with the 10% off Dell is running to get the Nikon 4300 plus a 256MB compact flash card for just over $400 plus free shipping! Awesome for a 4mp camera!

Apex recommended this site to me when i was in the market for the camera

http://www.dpreview.com/

it doesn't tell you the deals, but it does review the cameras. don't know if that's helpful

Thumbs up Canon G2 - A great camera

The G2 is a great camera and I highly recommend it. I received mine from Onecall.com for $468 shipped with full USA warranty.

http://ww1.onecall.com/PID_15479.htm# The deal is still on but may expire anytime.

Check out the following sites for more input on the G2

what about the new olympus stylus digitals? They're tiny, all-weather, 3.2 or 4.0 mp. Im looking to buy one.

Anyone have any advice about the Nikon coolpix 4300? Is that worth the money? Or, should I go with the Canon Elph S230.

My 4300 is still on the way and it is my first digital camera so I have nothing to compare it with. I am more old- school and like the mor traditional look of the Nikon as well as their great optics on their 35mm cameras. What features do you want? The ELPH S230 is a smaller camera which will be easier to carry in your pocket. It is 3.2 megapixl which is just fine for e-mailing and things like that. You probably won't be making large pictures (over 8x 10) with it anyways. Whatever you get, expect to purchase a larger memory card and perhaps some extra rechargeable batteries.
