Sirius vs. XM
Hello all...
I'm wondering which service I should look into getting and where I can find the best deals for equipment. I'm kinda leaning towards Sirius because I heard it's better reception and sound... 100% commercial free (and I don't mind the extra $3 a month) and they have a better sports package (don't care about Nascar). Any thoughts on Sat. radio... Thanks in advance... madjammin |

Look at both. Go to Best Buy or wherever and spendsome time actually listening to each service. You'll hear a lot of people say things. Let me clear up the two most common ones:
- They have about the same amount of commercials. Neither has commercials on the music stations, both have them on talk. - While it is true that at one time Clearchannel owned a fair chunk of XM, they currently own less than 4%. I've heard it said that XM has better Music, Sirius has better talk. You'll have to listen to both to get a feel for sound quality, you'll hear people saying that both are better ![]() I have XM, and have no experience with Sirius. I do love XM though. Only listen to FM for Bob&Tom, and that's about it. Oh, and reception isn't necesarilly better on either one. XM has two geostationary sat's that each can cover the entire nation, and Sirius has three thta move. XM also uses repeaters to fill in the shadows. |

Sirius has no real commercials on Talk. The "commercials" that they do have on talk is where normal "commercials" would be....and consists strictly of only public service announcements (usually for groups like MADD, March of Dimes, etc.) and channel linup annoucements (like for games).
Sirius also has free web streaming for subscribers I like Sirius better than I did XM, so I went with Sirius instead But, you shoudl definitely check out both
