Buy a cpu from Amazon?
I have the opportunity to get a screaming deal on a Gateway laptop from Amazon (saving 800). Should I do it or should I only buy a lappie from the manuf.?

Shouldn't be a problem buying from Amazon rather than Gateway, but unless this is a REALLY hot deal, there are several other laptop mfrs you should consider before looking at Gateway....

What makes it a hot deal is that I just graduated from college and I am getting all these gift certs to borders, which I can use online at Amazon. It has always been between Gateway and Dell for me. I am hesitant to go with Toshiba, but am willing to listen to any suggestions.

I'd say IBM, no question. You can get those at Amazon.
Of the brands they carry, I'd recommend them in this order: IBM Toshiba Compaq HP Any others Unless you're a Mac fan, then I'd include Apple there right after IBM. |
