register a domain

anyone know where i can get a domain? ive never gotten one before and dont know who is good and cheap. i'm looking for a dot com for around $7-8 a year if possible.

*edit* i found 1and1 offering a domain for $6 a year. i know they had that deal you can get free hosting for a year. are they reliable? how does it work with a domain? i know with hosting you look at how often they are up...but does it matter with a domian?

I have had nothing but praise for 1and1 and their domain registration/hosting package. I got in on the three-year free deal and love it. The same package is $4.95/month now, and $6/year domain registration for 500MB and 50 POP3 email accounts...

Very reliable so far, though my actual site hasn't been up long. The 1and1 Control Panel is slow, but I don't use it much anyway. That's the only complaint I have...

They won't be going under any time soon...and believe me, if they file for bankruptcy, somebody is going to buy their assets

First off, 1and1 is ok, their interface isn't the best, but their servers are fast and reliable(I run 2 sites with then).

Secondly, godaddy rocks, they won't be going broke for a while.

Thirdly, www.serverseven.com has some good deals for hosting, and the people that run that service are very helpful.

Good Luck
