I always get craftsmen tools. Lifetime warrenty makes it a great value and if you break one just goto any sears and get a replacement. Might be a little more expensive but well worth it.

Same here. Sears always has sales, you just have to watch their weekly ad. You can get stuff for 20-50% off.

My friend did however get attitude from a person at Sears. We were using his Craftsman screwdriver to knock out a bolt using a hammer and we cracked the handle. He took it back and got enw one but not before getting lectured about how warranty doesn't cover the handle, which he told them a warranty is a warranty unless you specify only on metal parts not handles.

That's bull - I was doing a little landscaping one time & my brother in law backed over my craftsman shovel (with the fiberglass handle). Splitered it all to pieces, but Sears replaced it with no problems.

For the home owner you can't beat Craftsman tools. Great warranty and for the most part no hassle exchange.

For the Professional I'd recommend Snap-on tools. Great warranty and they come to you weekly.

There are some exceptions to the Snap-on rule though

Really depends on your situations.

PS A screwdriver is just that, a screwdriver. Buy a punch or a prybar if thats what your gonna use it for.

I agree with most people here - go with Craftsman. If you get one of the impressively large and cheap sets, they'll break, rust, wear, and not last that long. With Craftsman, you pay twice as much up-front but only have to buy things once as opposed to every 5 times you use them.

If you're looking at building your tool collection over time, (not necessarily a now thing) Sear's has some sort of Craftsman Club membership. It's not amazingly uber or anything but it's kinda like the Dell mailers. It's worth it if you want to buy things as they come on sale.
