3.2 or 3.4GHz Northwood P4
Anyone know of anyplace that's selling the Intel Northwood processors anymore? I want to upgrade my 400SC & this seems to be the best choice, but boy are they hard to find...

Go to this link: http://support.dell.com/support/down...3&fileid=93409
It'll update the 400SC Bios so that it will support Prescott CPUs. |

Yeah, I know I can get a Prescott in there, but the Northwood runs much cooler & performance is essentially the same (even though the cache is smaller). If I can't get a Northwood I'll go for a Prescott, but then I think I'll have to re-vamp the cooling in there (new heat shrouds & fans & everything) and I'd prefer to avoid that.
Thanks for the info, tho. And Nate, thanks for the ZZF link too - I saw those yesterday but I'm upgrading from a 2.4GHz, so going to 2.6 isn't going to be a big difference in performance. I think ebay might be my only choice... |
