Deals for either Sony Vaios or IBM thinkpads?

I'm looking to spend less than $1000. THank you.

Keep an eye on the Thinkpad T42 and T43's. Now that the T60 is out, they may begin dumping the older models. If you can get ANY T series config for less than $1000, jump on it. Base price for the T42 is $1299 right now, but I expect that to begin to fall.

IMHO, don't get a Sony. Too many proprietary parts.

Thanks for the advice, but I was thinking more about coupons or whatnots. I saw that compusa had a $300 rebate for the vaio fs730, but you have to buy it in store, and they were out for mine. Something like that would be very much appreciated.
