The Phillips one at Target is great. I had a Emerson one before that was cheaper, but it mesed up alot. Some discs would not work with it, and movies that were widescreen would become fullscreen. Take my advice and don't buy a cheap DVD player because you will regret it. I bought the Phillips one at Target for 179. Not to bad and it has worked great on all of my discs

Check out costco. They have some good players in the $200 price range. Toshiba, Pioneer, RCA.

Cheap isn't always bad. I got my Konka KD-1800U from a local Fry's Electronics for $127, it's a nice piece with Dolby Digital output (optical and coaxial) and DTS compatible (although not mentioned anywhere in the manual). Best of all, it has an infamous hidden menu that allows you to turn off region check and macrovision copy protection, so that you can copy your own DVDs to video tapes.

If you don't care about the region check stuff, check the Apex AD-600A at your local Circuit City store for $179, it has Karaoke built-in and can also play MP3 and VCD discs.

Well how 'bout them apples. Looks like my konka might be able to be region free, and more important macrovision free . I'll have to try this out, thanks regionfree.

I don't know about quality, but this one seems to have a lot of features like MP3 and all region coding. Price is $220 with free shipping. Don't know about tax.

I just posted a reply to someone wanting good, cheap speakers and I saw this deal on a Samsung DVD-709 DVD Player $149.99 http://www.hifi.com/consumer/hifi/de...e_dvd&cattab=4 I would think it is a very good player because, I think, Cambridge Soundworks has only good quality speakers so I would expect them to offer only quality items.
