I worked most of the weekend but snuck off to Little Italy for their annual Stick Ball tournament. It is more popular in big cities back east and is similar to Over The Line on the West Coast. The bats are home made- broom handles or dowels or whatever sticks they can find. The batter bounces the ball and has to hit it- miss and he is out. Also has to land fair (lines are taped on the ground in a "V" like OTL). If it is fair and not caught, he has to run the bases and second base can be almost a block down so you have to run fast.
