Question Recommend a long distance moving company?

I'm moving from California to Texas. Can anyone recommend a good moving company?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, one that keeps on going East, we're full here in Texas. Nothing to see here.

Stay away from Bekins. Bunch of crooks!

I used them 9 months ago when moving from California back to Florida. They broke things and illegally jacked up the price from the second they had control of our things.

Previously I used Mayflower and they were pretty good.

Best website to learn about movers. Read the forums there for some suggestions.

Moving companies have a reputation on par with used car salesman and politicians. Do your research, check the BBB, etc., before you make any decision.

Rebecca,

We used Andy's Transfer and Storage service when we moved from So. Cal. They were not the cheapest, but they had a good price and on the weight estimate they were dead-on (everyone else low-balled the weight and would have been the same cost or more expensive if we went with them). We were recommended them from other friends who moved from Los Angeles and we had a great experience with them.

I don't have a phone number for them, but their address is 3464 N Verdugo Rd, Glendale 91208.

Good Luck!

These are three previous moving threads that should provide some good info. I posted in a couple of those threads. Same info holds true:

Check out this thread (recommendations for movers in SoCal?) that has some additional information in it.

We used Paul Arpin for a move a couple of years ago. (They're the "official movers of the NFL" for whatever that's worth.)

We interviewed several of the majors, and we went with Paul Arpin because they were competitively priced (though not the absolute cheapest) and their customer contact folks were fantastic.

They offer free estimates, so you might as well try them out. Here's a link to their free estimate form on their website.
Since you're going out of state, that might preclude some of the smaller or local companies from participating. Good luck!

moving company

Well, I hired a moving company last year, and Allied was thoroughly professional. Not that many people are moving these days.

Wow, this is an old thread. I winded up using Andy's Transfer and Storage because of the recommendations on MovingScam.com. They were wonderful and I would highly recommend them for a local or long distance move!
