Serious Accident.
Today at 11am, my daughter Elizia and two of her friends were in a serious mva. Car totaled, All three were taken by ambulance to the hospital. The two in the front were both treated for head and neck injuries, one of the girls who is pregnant complained of abdominal cramping but she is ok. The driver has burns on her face and arms from the exploding air bags. Liz was in the back on the passenger side and was tossed around the car-she slammed into the back of the seat a few times and has severe facial swelling and bruising, shoulder, back and neck contusions, and alot of pain in her pelvis. Luckily THANK GOD she did not get cut, or break any bones. I have her home with me now under strict observation orders. She has a severe headache, and is extremely sore all over.. originally the doctor thought she broke bones in her face because of the swelling. CT Scans confirmed no breaks,or fractures. She's in alot of pain and sleeping now..but if you guys think about it..say a nice one to the Big Man for her to feel better soon..and for keeping her "safe".. I almost had a heart attack, literally, when I got the call. I barely made it to the hospital.I am thankful that no one was killed. I don't know how they got out of this car. Totaled wasn't the word..more like smashed, pulverized, and crunched into a ball of metal and glass.
Pretty pathetic though, the parents of the two other girls never showed up at the hospital, and the father of the driver (who lives across the street from me)told his daughter (when she called him to tell him she was just in an accident)to retrieve the face plate from the stereo out of the car..he could car less if she was hurt..so not only did I have to stay with my own daughter, I was worried about this other girl too because I've known her so long. How could a parent be so uncaring???? Anyway, I've had a long night. I'm turning in in a few. But not before I say ALOT of prayers. |

Oh my. I'm so glad to hear that they're all (relatively) fine.
I can't imagine what the fear must be like to receive that call and go to the hospital...

Ouch, glad they seem to all be ok really! Was your daughter wearing a seatbelt? Were any of them? Being tossed around like that, doesn't sound like it. They were VERY lucky.

Glad to hear theyre all okay, but thats pretty ballsy asking about the stereo face plate. Did he know how bad the accident was? Or did he assume she was okay since she was calling?
BTW what were the events that led to the accident?

Obby, glad everyone is ok and I will say a prayer for them tonight.
Were there other vehicles involved in the mva? I am really glad that it wasn't more serious. |

Two of my nephews had similar accidents , each occurring about ten years ago. They weren't that fortunate, both suffering very serious injuries.
Glad she's OK. |

Wow. Glad that the injuries weren't as severe as they might have been. Unbelievable that some parents wouldn't care enough to show up at the hospital.
I know that your daughter will be watched over.

Sad that the neighbor cares more about stuff (the car stereo) than life (that of his daughter). Hope everyone is OK.

accidents suck, but you can bet your butt I'd pick my daughter up at the hospital. Cars are just things.

Thanks everyone. *update*.... Liz is doing "ok" today. She had an appt. with her own physician and he was PISSED. Apparently, they only sent 4 of the 34 xrays taken,to his office, and none of them were of her head/face/neck and chest..but only of her lower back. They didn't even send the CT scan reports over. Her doctor is having a fit because when they did her xrays they took her neck brace off and never put it back on her. She is having MAJOR head and neck pain today and can't turn her head too much from side to side, and she's had major muscle twitches on the left side shoulder and arm... I've tried pretty hard to keep my cool but my nerves have gotten the best of me and I spent the better part of the night puking while she was sleeping.
The thought of losing any of my kids just makes me physically ill. Liz did just get a phone call from her friend who was in the front passenger side that she was going back to the hospital tonight because she started cramping up and bleeding pretty heavy and she's five mos. pregnant. The driver who got the burns on her face and arms from the air bag chemicals is blistering up nicely today and her father has YET to call her or go see her, although he did stop over at my house because he knows Liz is staying here with me till she feels up to going back to her own place. Now here is what happened ...apparently they were only going about 55mph down a pretty busy parkway (for those of you who know the area-and there are some of you, they were on the Vestal Parkway Near the Walmart Plaza)...apparently the light up ahead changed to red, but the girl driving didn't notice because she had turned to the left to look out the window of the car because someone on the other side of the road was laying on their horn. When she looked up she was only inches from a stopped, brand new SAAB that was in front of her..she tried to hit the breaks but it was too late and she slammed into the back of the car, which deployed the airbags. Her car bounced back from the SAAB but she floored it when the airbags opened up and rammed her car almost completely under the SAAB. The car is nothing but a tangled mess of wires, glass and metal. She hit so hard that the car battery literally split in two..A car that was right behind them missed hitting them in the rear by seconds and instead swerved and hit the median, luckily for Liz who probably would have been trapped in the back (2 door car)...the first impact caused Liz who was not wearing her seatbelt in the back to smash at full speed into the back of the seat in front of her with her face and chest. Then she was thrown back and on the second impact she was slammed to the floor of the car with her leg trapped between the front seat, front door and seatbelt in the front. I asked her what happened after that-she doesn't remember as she had a slight black out. There was a Vestal Cop car 4 cars in front of them who saw the accident in his rear view and quickly turned and got back to the scene. Both girls in the front had belts on. And managed to get out of the car pretty fast. They had to help get Liz out. The cop had them sit down and he called for emergency services. All three girls were sent by ambulance to the hospital. There literally is no front of the car, the roof is smashed down to the top of the headrests on the seats..The ******* across the street had the car towed to his house by his brother in law before taking it up to his farm to use for parts. As of this morning he still hadn't seen, nor called his daughter to see how she is doing. I think he's worried about a lawsuit..I'm just glad my daughter is alive. Thanks again everyone for all your good thoughts and prayers. From my entire family. |

Obby, still praying for all of you. Surprised the ER didn't send all the x-rays. The CTs are extremely important to diagnose possible head and brain trauma.
I only assume this from what my Doctors have said about my CTs. Sad to hear of the pregnant one. Though the mother was belted in, the unborn can still get bounced around. ![]() |
