Things to do in Taipei, Taiwan

I just arrived here today with my family for my brother's engagement. Apparently it's a big to do for the Taiwanese. His fiancee is Taiwanese. Well we didn't get in until 7pm so once we checked into our hotel we met up with my brother and his fiancee. We went to a night market and it was awesome. The food was dee-lish.

Tomorrow, my brother and his fiancee are going to take me around Taipei while my parents have some business they need to attend to. I think I'm going to hit some of the more popular tourist spots but do any of you guys have any recommendations? Any suggestions for bars or pubs for the nightlife.

Here are some pics I just took. More to follow.

Heck, that's when you know it's fresh

Things you should try:

1. Stinky tofu (it's good, not great, but it's why I went to Taiwan last Xmas)
2. Pork chop on a stick (seriously awesome, fried with some man and cheese at the center)
3. Glazed fruit on a stick (just like a candy apple, but you get all sorts of fruit)
4. Dumplings (mmm...dumplings)
5. All the sweet stuff
6. Fried Squid
7. BBQ fresh shrimp (pulled out of the water, skewered, and cooked)

I didn't like the pork chop on a stick when I tried it. It was deep fried and I guess I couldn't take anything really greasy. I went in October.

i'm sure your family already knows the popular spots to take you, but just off the top of my head, go to dan shuei or mao kung.
