My GF was trying to increase her credit line when her bank told her that she had a 90-days late notice on her credit report from Bally's Fitness Club. The bank told her to call up the credit beureau and deal with the problem. She has never been a member there, so she first called up the fitness club to see if she could find out if and who has signed up with her identity. They said there was no member information under her name and that once again she would have to deal directly with the credit beureaus about the delinquency on her credit report. She's in the process of requesting a credit report and will call the credit beureaus to confirm the nature of the problem. We're guessing it's not a credit card number leak but rather a social security number leak.

After talking with the credit beureaus, what are the next steps to take? Is there any way to resolve this without leaving a blemish on her credit rating? Can the credit beureaus resolve this or will we need to file a police report?

Ahhhh. How convenient!! My life quality has been hovering around 0 for a while and I've been meaning to knock it down to negative 10,000. Thanks a$$hole!
