AT&T Sues Verizon Over 'There's a Map for That' Ads
"AT&T has taken offense at the recent Verizon 'There's a Map for That' ad campaign and has filed a lawsuit against Verizon."
The article actually makes some interesting points... http://www.pcworld.com/businesscente..._that_ads.html |

AT&T's 3G coverage does suck. Given the choice, I'd take the iPhone on Verizon's network any day of the week.
Also, don't get me started on AT&T's refusal to support tethering on the iphone - despite the fact that you can tether any one of their Windows Mobile phones with no problems. |

there's a lot of press coverage on this,... and like the article said, it's kind of sad that it seems to be working against at&t.
so you're on at&t? how do you like the service overall? customer service? |

This wont go anywhere. ATT admits that the maps are accurate about 3G coverage...their issue is that it appears that they dont have any service where there is no 3g coverage.

Well, I live in a pretty heavily populated area so coverage is fine for the most part. There are no dead spots, and I get 3G everywhere in the immediate area. Customer service is good - they're pretty responsive, and we got a really nice discount (it's a work phone). The drawback is when you travel to less populated areas - you still get coverage in most places, but the data network is WAY slower, and there are definitely more dead spots than Verizon. And while I am no Apple bandwagon guy, I have to say that the iphone is without question the best & most useful phone I have ever owned. Battery life sucks, but I've learned to live with that. |

When does the exclusive agreement between ATT and Apple expire?
*** Apparently it ends in 2010 but ATT is in talks to extend it to 2011. Last edited by Prngr44 : 11-04-2009 at 01:39 PM. |

I love my Sprint service. I've never been with any other carrier because of my positive experience and good coverage everywhere I've lived. My only complaint with Sprint is their phone selection. I would love to see more Android phones.

I live in the DC metro area and I just switched to Sprint from ATT on Monday. I had ATT since 2006. The ATT service here sucks. I had problems with my voice-mail or lack of being able to have people forwarded to my voice-mail when I did not answer a call, inability to get a rebate on the phone I bought even though I was clearly eligible for the rebate, minor problems with customer service, but worst of all I had problems with signal strength and dropped calls on major interstates (I-66, I-495, I-395, 295-B/W Parkway, I-95, etc...) around here. There is no excuse for poor service on the highways around a major metropolitan area like DC. I had VZ before ATT and I only changed because ATT was so much cheaper than VZ. In this case, I guess you get what you pay for. |

I just got the HTC Hero and it is pretty sweet! do you have an Android phone? If you thin Sprint has bad phones take a look at VZ. It was another reason, albeit minor, that I left VZ.Quote:

I just read somewhere how AT&T's network was bogged down by the number of iPhone users so they've been trying to upgrade their own network by adding a bunch of cell towers. The article even had how many certain places were getting... But I can't for the life of me find that article anymore...
In terms of Sprint, I know that my friends in Chicago love Sprint and won't dream of using anything else there. |

I would say that VZ is the best in the DC area. Among other benefits, it is the only carrier that has service in the metro tunnels which is huge for commuters.

I'm pretty much a die hard Verizon customer. They all have their good and bad points, but over all, the Verizon coverage and service are why I stay.
I want an iPhone in the worst kind of way, but with the new Droid coming out tomorrow, I might just be happy with that! It looks awesome and the features are out of this world. |

my only problem with vz is that you have to pay extra for tethering.
other than that, i'm pretty sure they have the droid i'm looking for ![]()

There may still be dead spots as they are in the process of rolling out. Here's an article about it:

i'm on verizon, have been since they were called "airtouch" back in the day. however, i'm finding that their cs is sucking the big hairy ones lately...
after a long intro and finally getting to a SUPERVISOR,... "the screen no longer presses down anymore... i believe i'm still within the year of purchasing and qualify for the warranty." cs - "sure. do you mind if we go through a troubleshooting checklist?" "sure." cs - "ok great. what firmware are you on?" "excuse me? i said the problem is mechanical. the screen doesn't push down. i can select, but i can't push..." cs - "i understand. if you would just tell me what firmware you're on and what software you're running." "you're kidding..." cs - "no sir. most of the fixes that we've seen can be fixed with a simple update of the firmware software." "ok, how does that fix my MECHANICAL problem?" cs - "you never know sir..." well, she had a good point and i would've gone through the hoops but had to get to a meeting so... there ya go. ![]() |

HA! HA! LMAO!
![]() I have experienced the same thing with Sprint, ATT, and VZ. I have stopped fighting it b/c it isn't worth my aggravation. They all have to go through every troubleshooting step even if it makes no sense. I just go along with what they tell me to do and sometimes I do it and sometimes I don't then I wait for them to ship me a new phone. I had to do that 3 times with ATT and the RAZR I had with them. Finally I got them to ship me a different phone for free. It can be very frustrating! |

at&t cs isn't much better.
i had a problem with the trackball on my blackberry... talked with 4 different people, and to re-explain the problem every single time... gets annoying quick... |

down where i live i don't have any problems w/ my at&t service.
I always have good receptions and rarely do i ever get a dropped call. this is like 70 miles east of LA, but the reception is similar everywhere in southern california.

Problem is they have ****ty service in populated areas a s well....like NYC. I feel bad for all those people I see with their iPhones and the Apple reported 27% dropped call rate. I switched from ATT to Sprint about 10 years ago and never looked back. |

How very American. Don't fix your shortcomings, sue other people for pointing them out.
