obby, you'll find out if/when i get the pics.

df, ga has turned into a "moms' board" of sorts. The uninteresting threads far outnumber the good ones now. Don't worry...I still lurk.

Hey I'm a mom!...grrr..
It's not that there are loads of uninteresting threads, it's just that there are hardly ANY threads anymore..remember back in the day when you'd have to scroll back two and three pages to make sure you didn't miss anything? ..well I'm sure it has to do with "new" rules and regulations of the board..and the smackdown by the powers that be..a word of advice Irwin Chee..it's always good to come home to Mom's house, just remember that. As Dorothy Gale once said.. "there's no place like home"..

So what can we do to get the threads moving? I feel like we have just lost a lot of members and have not really replenished the ranks. Our pic of the day thread and stuff is nice, but i think with fewer people, there are simply fewer threads. It would rock to have crazy topics to talk about every day.

A message board like this is what the community makes of it. If you don't like it, feel free to explore the multitude of others out there.

Personally, I still feel at home here.

Just my own opinion on that.

Perhaps we should start merging some of the forum sections back together. I generally only visit OT/Political, and occasionally go into the others.

Maybe just start off with merging Softer side and SS/NSS back in.

well, to be fair, we've also had a few major contributors banned, and because of atleast one(dopey) we lost a few others. i see pink from time to time, as well as nija, but there was one of dopeys friends that posted frequently whose SN eludes me. canta was always good for some smart assery. nickel went who-knows-where. whitak just recently got back in touch with me, but haven't seen him here. *shrug* we've lost some good ones, and quite honestly, some very good friends

As far as I know, welfare was not banned. I think it was coleslaw that went over to porchtalk with nickle.

Corsex!

I partly agree. I don't post as much because you can almost predict what people are going to say. The only ones I don't have exactly down are Nap and Cruel.

Canta was a dick, but I always like him. He and I had a few PM exchanges that had me howling with laughter.

Ialsohaveadream is probably the person I miss most from the "new crew". He had a great sense of humor, was intelligent, and kept people on their toes. He loved receiving my card.

I haven't talked to the baby factory... erg.. welfare in a while, I should e-mail her.

Porchtalk is/was ghey and the ho bag is trolling the anandtech boards.

It's true that this place has gone though a major overhaul. Some users were banned, others left because of the bans and other reasons. I almost left as well, but I guess I am just a creature of habit.

Complaining about it now really doesn't do any good...It is what it is. It's up to us to either make things better or to leave like the others. For the time being I am still here, although it's painful to see how few posts there are anymore. While I have always been more of a lurker then a poster (Just look at how long I have been here and how many posts I have), I find myself lurking a little less these days. (It's still nearly once a day, but not the 20 per day it used to be. )

I suspect that I fall in the predictable category. Me, I'm all for differences in opinions and wish most everyone back. It's just enough of a PITA to deal with douche-baggedness IRL to deal with it online too.

So yeah, while Canta was a jerk but sometimes cool, the cool does not undo the jerk. It was his own fault that he got banned, not for his opinions (which I disagreed with often, but respected mostly) but because he couldn't communicate them without becoming so aggressively tactless.
It was enough for me to block him a couple of times, but I never hated the guy. Too bad for him.

Oh nice to see we're revisiting this again.

Some people left because of the lack of drama here. GA got too nice for some. Back when the drama level was high from all the political debates and stuff, it was more fun for most people. It was less interesting when the biggest instigators got banned or left. Some people came here looking for a fight and when there was nothing to fight for or against, they stopped coming. If Canta was still here, nickel would still stop by to see who could piss the other off the most.

Dopey had problems with being told what to do. I can respect that, but I also accept that the mods will have to do what they have to.

WFL was used to ruling her roost. Most of the time that was fine, but sometimes it was too much and she probably knew it.

Passwird grew up and slowly stopped coming to Never Never Land.

Nija... Official response is that it doesn't and never did exist.

The Jello is Jigglin went that way of the doo doo bird, but will be watching from above as the Lakers beat Boston in the finals this year.

With the exception of his recent activity a couple weeks ago, frenchbread is never on any more. Even though my yeast cultures are superior, I still miss his banter. Hopefully he hasn't caught a mold.

I pretty much agree with what some posters above said, a lot of people are gone or just don't visit as often. I lurk more than anything now.
