I'll tell you my favorite women's perfume. I give this to most of my friends (if they fit the style of the scent). It's a scent called "Champsellysses" (sp?) by Guerlain. It's a very formal scent that goes well with dressed up style apparel and maybe people with a bit of age (older than teenagers). It's wonderful and many women have approved of the scent as well. Should go around $40-50 for a 3.4oz bottle. It's been a while since I bought one so not sure of te price. The best thing about it is that it's not too common (yet). The last thing you want is something EVERYBODY is wearing. (ie. Tommy, CK anything...please no!!)

how about some of the old classics? and i MEAN CLASSIC..chanel No.5 is nice, a bit strong though if used heavy handedly, but chanel No.22 has a very subtle lemony base and is kind of powdery..it's very pretty. You can pick them up at any decent store like Kaufmans,BonWit Tellers,The BonTon,Macy's, and believe it or not I think around holidays some drug stores like CVS carries it..it usually runs around 30 dollars or so-which is the price you will pay for anything halfway decent...OH yeh..and BIJON is nice too..VERY NICE. (hehehe or you can do this..go to K-MART jewelry department, where they sell those little mini bottles of the classic perfumes for 5 or 6 bucks, get a nice fancy box-and give her a variety..that way-she will have less of a chance to be disappointed.) STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING BY ELIZABETH TAYLOR..THEY ALL STINK!

I have to agree with the Chanel...I LOVE #5! (so, if I'm on your gift list, that will do nicely )

my favorite is clinique happy. its one of the few that doesn't make me sick to my stomach. and its not too expensive. whatever you do, don't buy perfume at anywhere like TJ Maxx. Its cheap there for a reason- it doesn't smell good!

My mom likes to wear beautiful, but i have no idea who makes it. it smells really about an hour after my mom puts it in- thats when the scent gets down to a tolerable level after she puts on about half the bottle.

one of my faves is Ocean Dream by Giorgio Beverly Hills. you can get it for around $30 for a 3oz bottle online (i've ordered from scentiments.com, and you can get really good prices there. i'm sure there are other places online where you can get stuff cheaper than in the department stores)

Beautiful is made by Estee Lauder. My mom loves the stuff too.

This depends ... does your lady friend like light or strong perfumes? Tell us what perfume she's wearing now, so we can get an idea of her style/taste.

She doesnt really wear any, I just want to get her some. I will get her anything that isn't to strong, because I have very bad sinus/allergy problems and wouldnt be able to take the smell.

then definately go with one of the chanel's....they've been around like a zillion years for a reason..also..Ciara,by Revson is nice..powdery,and comes in different strengths so you can buy heavy duty thick like syrup 100 strength..or you can get the 80strength which isn't as bad..but like all good perfumes..pulse points if it's a dab on, and spray in the air and twirl if it's a spray..and LAYER..perfume,powder,body lotion....

i have searched and searched over the years and have only two that i deem acceptable - calvin klein's escape and ralph lauren's lauren, both about $40 for a decent-sized bottle. i hate powdery, cloying sweet scents. lauren is a very low-key scent like roses, and escape is a little citrusy/musky.

also try reflect.com - custom perfumes. i have made like 4 different custom scents, and they were all pretty nice, just not quite as good as the two i mentioned above. none were overpowering. you can get a sampler, where they will send you 3 slight variations of the same scent for $10 (free shipping) and then when you pick one, you just enter the code from the bottom of the sample at the website to get a full-sized bottle, and i think it is $40. free shipping, very nice gift packaging for free. and you get to give the scent a personalized name.

I love Air by Giorgio Beverly Hills. It's really light and that is good cuz my hubby will sneeze a fit if he smells it too much. And I can't find it anymore.

I also wear Splendor by Elizabeth Arden which runs about $49.

i can't contribute to this, since, like chrissy's husband. am almost violently reactive towards most scents...

Fun... when you are trying to hit someone and your nose is going crazy sneexy and cough (that's only if u can get close enuff to smell them, most woman i can't even come in contact with since i have such reactions..)

Lotions i'm the same way.... cept i also get hives... mmm wonderful fun let me tell u...

can I recommend bacon? the smell of bacon drives me wild. as for price, about $5 for the good stuff at your local supermarket. just cook it in the microwave and rub in desired areas. leaves a great scent.

Pleasures by Estee Lauder (comes in both Silver and Gold). Silver is a lighter fragrance. Also, as noted above, Beautiful.

May I suggest getting her a set, including spray perfume and lotion? Layering your fragrance is the best way to maintain it throughout the day.

In any case, any major department store beauty counter will be happy to sell you a set, and if your GF isn't happy with it, encourage her to return it and exchange it for something she likes.

Feeling like I just wrote a Cosmo column...

yes, I am ill. but nothing draws men better than the smell of bacon. if my GF did this, I think I would go nuts...that's why she never will, and it's disgusting to have bacon fat on you, but that's besides the point.
