Lightbulb Frequent Visitor Program Rule Ideas

With all the TV and radio programs we have here in San Diego, we've come to learn what programs work and what don't.

The purpose of this thread is to explore what program would be good a win-win for the vendors, customers and middlemen.

For example, I have many websites and would like to get advertisers to promote themselves on my site. They won't pay me unless I can get them some business. I would like to get businesses to offer customers some discounts and/or freebies in exhange for the customers visiting my site. I would also like to ensure that all visitors have the same advantages meaning that they should all have only one account, and can accumulate points toward "purchases" through various things (like visiting customers, entering newsletter codes, visiting affiliate websites, etc.)

--
How should this program be set up to benefit visitors so that businesses still feel that it's worth their while to send promo materials?

So, should prizes be available at random intervals, or should they be at prdictable times so that you know when to go to the site and get them?

I like predictable times. It makes contestants listen to the station more to find out what times stuff will go up.

Some random thoughts:

1. A radio or TV station in unlikely to really listen to suggestions unless they can see a way to implement them that also benefits them, and their sponsors.

2. Maybe one idea is to suggest to the staion that they sponsor a quaterly meeting at their studios where a (limited number ?) of frequent listeners can listen to the staions ideas and provide feedback of their own.

I think he means posting prizes like on the CP web page.. should tickets be released ALWAYS at 10am and 1PM.. etc... I think if the times changed more then people would be tuning in to see when the prizes are being posted.

I would like to see more random times.. In my opinion, there should be more of a luck factor in getting prizes. As in being lucky enough to check the site at the right time to find something up for grabs! Not knowing they are up at a certain time every day and it being a race to see who can get them.

Another benefit to more random times is that many people are unavailable at certain times to get prizes. If they spread the times around some, I think there more people would be involved in getting them.

Thumbs up

I like predictable times, throughout the day.

On this matter:

"For example, I have many websites and would like to get advertisers to promote themselves on my site. They won't pay me unless I can get them some business."

Whenever possible you can have your promotions picked up directly from the vendor providing them with new walk-in business. This may be an attractive incentive.

Good luck with your venture, I hope it works out for you.

The pickup @ store is a great idea! I don't need to keep an office or inventory, and the store gets the traffic they paid for.

re: predictable times
These have their good and bad sides.
Good sides include being able to know exactly when the product is available (assuming that you can sychronize your clock with theirs) and you can try to schedule yourself to be there for the give-aways you want.

Bad sides include the fact that maybe thousands of others will be competing with you to get the give-away.

For totally unpredictable times, it's a crap-shoot and I think most people would lose interest unless there are so many useful giveaways that they can get interesting things at least a few random times per week.

I kind of like the idea of a predictable time RANGE, like somewhere within a 15/30/60 minute range. For example, "the iPod will be available somewhere during the 10AM hour."

The problem with this is that the people who have nothing better to do with their lives will simply keep refreshing for an hour until the give-away appears, then grab it.

The benefit is that there's likely to be less competition.

I like the idea of a 15-minute window.

Lightbulb My opinion

Some radio stations and whatnot's seem to have no rhyme or reason to when (or if) they post prizes. Leaves it very hard for those who either access from home after work or before and those who access from work. If this makes sense to anyone I propose that maybe the stations can pick say 2 general times to post.
