If he was selling promotional items, wouldn't the Feds come down on him for the old "Payola" stuff that got radio in such hot water back in what, the 60's?

I didn't hear part of it but Jeff must have rolled a 2 and would have to use 2 word sentences throughout the whole interview. He decided to make up a new game this AM where he rolled 4 dice, added them together to make 12 so all of his sentences had to have 12 words. Believe me, it makes them look really stupid. They seem to think it's funny. Perhaps I'm the only one that doesn't find it funny.

The Ebay seller was T Johnson himself selling what appeared to be promotional stock that was not being used for freeloader giveaways. A lot of it was concert tickets, CD's, and even collector memorabilia such as musician autographed instruments from musicians appearing at the station. It sure was funny how it stopped so abruptly after word got out on the old freeloader msg board. He still has a job though so it couldn't have been that bad.

It should have been if I had know what to do to get him in hot water I sure would have. I averaged out (on the low side for sure) and he had to have made at least 50 grand on all the items he sold. He was taking this stuff as promotional items from record companies and I don't think they would have appreciated it if they knew he personally was making a profit off the stuff. Geez, with all the money the guy makes already...... to be so darn greedy just burns me up!!!

Laura, either find a remedy QUICKLY for your aesthma or get off the air! The caughing and hacking that you do every day even with the microphone turned off is not only unprofessional but just plain ANNOYING! If you can't get a remedy for the problem soon find another profession!

Whiskers, are you really saying that you think the money went to charity?

I ask because I see that you are defending JACK in the regular JACK VIP folder and so I'm curious.

If the money went to charity then why did he run and hide the minute we picked up on it?? Sounds like Whiskers might be a JACK insider.

I agree with Young American. If all of the money was going to charity, he should have put that into the auction description. It would have probably increased the final amounts on the items if it were charities people want to give to. I'm gonna have to raise the BS flag on this one Whiskers. Based on your posts on this board and the other board it looks like you are involved in radio and have ties to KFMB.

Whiskers, if what you are saying is true, why wasn't that explained on the site at the time of the sales? Did all the purchasers get a tax deductible notice, or how was that all handled? And why wasn't more made of it? For instance, had I known the station was doing a charity auction, I woudl have gladly bid on the stuff, and probably would have helped to increase the overall gain.

Like the charity auction kyxy has done for the charities they supported. Why would Johnson do such an on the quiet side kind of thing, and no mention of the proceeds going to charity on the site?

Yes....I think it went to charity....and really it is none of our business.

Nope...not an insider....just a hunch and besides it really isn't any of our business.

Don't get your pantaloons in a bunch...really it is none of our business. Let's get onto other business....like will Jeff & Jer get their contract renewed.

You better believe it's our business. If sponsors gave him/them that stuff to give away on the radio or via the freeloaders program...and he didn't then, heck yah, it's our business.

I don't think they stand a chance at getting their contracts renewed at KFMB. It's clear Jack is looking to cut costs wherever they can to run lean and mean. There is NO WAY they can afford to pay Jeff and Jer MORE than $3.0 million each and Tommy another $1 million along with the 6 figure salary Laura is pulling down. They need to get rid of annoying Rick ASAP. He needs to stay behind the scenes and if there aren't any anymore, he needs to move on to another station.

Tommy needs to really take a good hard look at himself and ask the question does he want to end up like his brother who died of a drug overdose? He needs to cool it with the gambling and drug addiction. He also needs to ask himself if he really thinks the new girl is in it for the long haul or just to haul off half of the remaining assets Tommy was able to keep after Danielle kicked him out of the house and kept the kids. I just can't get over the over 15 year age difference between the two. He is on a oneway collision course with destruction and I think Jeff and Jer will have a hard time doing radio without him. Perhaps the entire showgram will just disband and go do their own thing. Jer has plenty to retire off of, Jeff is VERY talented and can do well in radio on his own, Laura can easily afford to just be a stay-at-home mom with her hubby pulling in a solid 6 figure income as an airline CAPTAIN, and keep her congested voice off the air. This way Laura can stop complaining about her lack of sleep even though she only works a 4 hour work day with the entire rest of the day to do with as she pleases. Randy just needs to flat out MOVE OUT at the age of 43 and finally break the ambilical cord he's had with his parents since he was a baby.

That's my soapbox, what's yours?

gossip - rumor or report of an intimate nature.

We should remember our etiquette when gossiping. (Is that an oxymoron?)

If you're going to post something here, be sure the subject matter reflects topics that are considered our business. :-)

Whiskers, thanks for your concern about my pantaloons. Maybe you should check to see if your own are a little too snug for comfort.

I'm still interested in knowing the real story about this whole issue, and your trying to switch the subject doesn't do anything to help.

If you would like to stay to stuff that is "your business" more power to you.

This link shows they were making over $2 million back in 2002. I've come across more recent information indicating it's near $3 million if not over that. I just can't seem to find it at the moment.

Thanks Smitty and Green Monsta for the links.

I mean it's no secret that J&J make millions, but how did you know how much Laura and Tommy make?

Truly, I never thought they made that much...and I'm sure it's more now since 2 yrs have passed since this article. I'm sure the rest (besides Tommy) don't make nearly as much. Jeff & Jer are the show. Without them, it's nothing. Would you listen to the "Laura & Randy" show? LOL She just can't manage her money, bottom line.

We'll see what happens in the fall. Jerry is about 54 now and talked in the article about retiring. It's tough working 20 hours a week and he does love to travel. We should all be so lucky... Tommy obviously makes a ton also.

I wonder about Rick being there so much too hummmm. I thought it was interesting to see someone mention how this is a pretty small town afterall. I forget sometimes they live amoung us. So someone out there must know something!!!!!!

And anyways, where the heck are Greg and Sara?

I agree...I like Laura too, and yes, I also agree that she SEEMS to be high maintenence. I'm not sure if you heard several weeks ago, but she was trying to surprise her hubby with a 'golf course' in her back yard. I could hear the register ringing cha-ching on that one. If she spends like that, then there are a lot of holes in her pocketbook.

Well I actually got to put my 2 cents in where it might really count. I got a call last night to do a survey on (drum roll please.....) SAN DIEGO RADIO!!! Boy was I ever happy to let them know what I think. They asked alot of questions regarding which stations I listen to and which I like best. They asked specific questions about the DSC show on KGB and Jeff and Jer on Jack. They asked questions like "Do you feel that they think they are funny than they really are?" (YES) "Are they annoying?" (MOST OF THE TIME). "Would you listen to JACK if Jeff & Jerr went to another radio station?" (YES) "Would you follow Jeff & Jer to their new station if they left?" (NO, I don't like them now, why would I follow them anywhere??) It was a pretty interesting survey and I got paid for doing it which made it even better. I didn't like the Jack format too much in the beginning but it's a little easier to take now. I'm a real channel surfer anyway and still change the channels until I find a song I want to hear.

As far as the DSC show, .......well that's another thread isn't it?
