    It sounds like your RAM is hitting it's limits rather than the GPU. When the GPU is being pushed too far, the system is unstable. When the RAM is pushed to far, you'll have visual artifacts.

    That is INSANELY hot! What kind of cooler are you using? Even a average-poor one should to better. The cooler is probably not sitting on there right. You may want to use a copper shim.
