Ivan,
How's that? :)
Update to the latest BIOS. If that doesn't work, uninstall and take out all upgrade cards except video card. If the problem disappears, reinstall the components one by one to find the culprit. If...
When I had a 32MB Radeon DDR, I could only do 185 without artifacts.
Putting Ramsinks on my current Radeon TIVO gave me another few MHz, but that's using frag tape. When I took one off awhile...
It sounds like your RAM is hitting it's limits rather than the GPU. When the GPU is being pushed too far, the system is unstable. When the RAM is pushed to far, you'll have visual artifacts.
Go...
FC-PGA Cool-Shim 8.95
ThermalTake Golden Orb (Socket) 16.95
Ultra Memory Kit 25.95
Ultra ATA rounded cable (Black) 19.95
Floppy Rounded cable (Black) 19.95
You could only save a few bucks...
Got mine today. Windows instantly recognized it. Performs like a pro. Why anyone would buy a different NIC elsewhere is beyond me...
Changing the PCI slot will also change the IRQ. Some motherboards may also let you assign the IRQs manually in the BIOS.
You said your system slowed to a crawl, while the icons were trying to pop thru. Well, thats not necessarily a video problem. It could be a program bug/incompatibility.
The less programs that are...
Delete everthing in your startup menu. Disable "Load on Startup" in all those dumb icons are the bottom right corner. Use some original 3dfx drivers.
Disable all the power management garbage. It my be going to "sleep" and not waking up.
Also check that your powersupply is not a noname, and that you've plugged the case connectors properly to the MB.
I had the same problem with my old 52x Creative(well, old because it's in the 2nd computer now). I guess the easiest solution is a new drive. I have never had that problem with my Toshiba DVD...
Take out all your PCI cards. Unplug your floppy, CD-Roms, Harddrives from the MOBO. (Don't worry, this only takes 1 minute) Test it as is. Boot alright? (As it looks for boot device...) If it...
Go to ControlPanel->System->Device Manager tab->Computer Are there any items sharing IRQs?(other than ACPI IRQ Holder)If so, move the conflicting item to a different PCI slot.
Unless Tyan has listed it in the list of fixes in the different BIOS versions, consider it to still be a problem. Your best bet is to have a IDE drive to boot off of.
I'd disable Power Management (in the BIOS and Windows) altogether. If you still want certain features, troubleshoot them one by one.
Go under preferences in ICQ, uncheck anything that looks bad. I always uncheck "Load on Startup".
Make sure the connection is solid and correct. Sometimes when I mess around in my case, I may accidently knock a cable out a fraction of an inch...enough to cause it to be "disconnected", so that...
My sorrow goes out for you...
How stable is it? Well, put it this way: It's many people's OS of choice for Servers. Stability is better than whatever MS puts out. So why do I use Win 98??? One word: Games. Linux still has...
Another vote for reinstalling IE. Try an older version.
Don't buy those crappy $199 (after rebate) deals at Staples, they are a crappy brand. This one is NOT. It usually sells for much more, and for good reason. Take my advice, do NOT cheap out on a...
Talk2raffi,
I have the ACS48s too. Imagine the ACS48s with a bit less midrange, less bass, but clear and tight. Then add rear speakers. That is the FPS2000. If I had $75 to kill, this is...
Bires,
That is INSANELY hot! What kind of cooler are you using? Even a average-poor one should to better. The cooler is probably not sitting on there right. You may want to use a copper shim.
