Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto
I have given it a lot of thought. I believe in my heart that Mr. Roboto is the single stupidest song in Rock history. Let me make my case: First off, it takes itself seriously. It is part of a semi Rock Opera (that was a total bomb) Kilroy Was Here. It is pretentious to a fault, and starts off the theme of the album that really just gets worse and worse right up to the last song. It has a really bad video that takes the themes of the song and beats you over the head. Lyrically, it's stupid, because it takes the phrase Domo Arigato, and then thinking the audience isn't paying attention, explains what it means. It has Dennis Deyoung singing it. He previous brought us Come Sail Away (the "I can't believe I smoked the whole bowl" song) and "Babe" (the "if this doesn't get me laid, I give up song"). Sure, there are other dumb songs. Duran Duran's The Reflex doesn't even friggin make sense, for instance. But that was clearly just a group of lads trying to make a buck. No, Mr. Roboto is clearly the winner here in the stupidest song in Rock history. Domo Arigato, Styx. 3DGameman starts us off with the A.C.
