New Puppy!
I'm feeling a little jazzy today, so going with the Grover Washington Jr. I had...I had a weekend I did not expect to have. The weekend I was expecting involved doing stuff in the yard and finishing up Infamous, which did happen. But... So Saturday, after running to the book store, I come home and find my wife looking up pet places. She wants to look at puppies. I'm ok with that. Because of allergies, while we check with shelters, it's actually difficult to find I dog I can have, so we tend to end up in pet shops. I mean, I'm even allergic to dog spit - a lick to the skin will cause me to break out in hives, a lick to the lips and they swell to 3 times their normal size. On the upside, I'll never need collagen injections. Anyway, after pointlessly saying we are just looking, and after already dealing with a 5 year old crying because the puppy we aren't buying will not be named Sprinkles, we head out and sure enough, buy a puppy. A cute little Shih Tzu Poodle mix, mostly white but with a black spot around one eye. We named her Fiona. I'm not sure why, but it works. We get home and our 8 year old Shih Tzu Yorkie, Marcie, is somewhat offended but mostly pleased to have a buddy. Stella is so happy her voice goes up into a range only dogs can hear, and Sammy actually interacts with the rest of us. Saturday was a long day. And a long night, as 2 month old puppies in new places take a bit of work. Sunday, after a rough night listening to a tiny, tiny little bark (I've already said I ain't doing night duties with this one) we had a quiet day with mowing and puppy playing and me finally getting to finish my game. And as the day came to a close, and the inevitable dreading of the Monday started to settle in, I had the realization that I only have a 4 day week this week and that next weekend is the 4th. Which both pleased me, and made me wonder where the hell the summer is going already. But mostly pleased me. You go have a day.
