Windows Defender

Hey guys and gals,

I can't seem to uninstall this (so I can reinstall). Says windowsdefender.msi file is missing. Help? Seems I'm at a stalemate

Can you go back to the previous configuration of XP before you installed Defender?

Go to Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. Select to go back to an earlier version. Then, select different calendar dates, and on the right it will tell you what it did on those dates...maybe you will get lucky and find when the latest version of Defender was installed?

Or, you can try downloading Defender direct from this link: http://100-downloads.com/download.php?p=32

Then, just install it right over top of your current installation. This should either fix it or allow it to be removed.

Sorry it didn't work - I've got Defender installed on several boxes. When it gets wonky or won't update (as beta software does) I have had good luck with the "dirty install".

Download it and move the downloaded file (which IS windowsdefender.msi) into your present Defender folder. Then try your uninstall...
