Windows Whistler Betas?

After reading the article linked on the front page and being extremely disappointed with WinME I want to get Whistler on my computer. I know there are places to get a beta copy of the next OS.

1) Anyone ever do this before? Good idea/Bad Idea?
2) Where can I get one? Which IRC channel?

Not really a good idea to put an early beta on your PC unless you actually plan on testing it. You'd be better off waiting for release candidate 1. Plus, it'll be much easier to find by then.
