Final version of DirectX 8 works good under NVIDIA 6.20 but drop a lot of fps under 7.17 driver. However, NVIDIA always comes out quality driver in a very relatively short time.

Hey wga22,
As usual, our systems produced similar results. On on MadOnion's 3DMark benchmark in win98: ATI: 10% increase over DX7. Voodoo2 SLI: 10-15% increase in performance over DX7. In Win2k: don't play games in win2k, I have been using betas for about four months now. Even the betas were solid as rocks. [Edited by Bires on 11-15-2000 at 04:07 PM] |

Bires,
I just got the compgeeks GTS and although the speed is fast, the 3D image quality does not seem to be as good. I have worked with the settings. It would seem that my framerate is in the mid 50's for Re-Volt, but my image quality is just par. I would quickly trade some of that speed for the quality. The 2D quality is good with games like Red Alert 2. I am trading my VIVO and TV tuner for what I thought was better graphics and performance... Are these immature drivers or is DirectX 8 causing problems? |
