Hi helping a friend with their new AOL 5.0 & DSL.
ICS will not work because Win98 will not bind with more than 4 TCP/IP connections. The host works fine but can't get the client to access the internet. The network works fine other than that. Both computers see each other and print sharing works fine. DSL modem is external usb modem. Options????? Beside scrapping AOL ![]() |

I gave up on ICS and went the Proxy Server route with Analogx Proxy http://www.analogx.com/contents/down...work/proxy.htm
It's freeware, takes up very little system resources, and doesn't require any additional network adapters like ICS. It will take some work to configure AOL and the like, and you will have to know (or learn) a bit about networking, but it was worth it for me. About the only thing I haven't figured out (yet) is ICUII - would appreciate any words of wisdom anyone can provide. |
