Most likely you just have to format the card so that it is readable by both. If the card is formatted on Windows XP it probably formatted it as NTFS, which when you stick it in the Mac it will say "Disk Insertion: The disk you insterted was not readable by this computer". If you have the jpg's saved somewhere else you can just use the Disk Utility on the Mac to format it as MS-DOS. This is readable by both Mac's and PC's.

no, in fact, you specifically should NEVER format an SD card, or any flash memory, as NTFS, you'll wreck the card.
If the school can't read it, a)double check the card isn't bad on the PC - it could have fried in the attempt, and b)it's possible they are using old old macs.

For future reference consider using those little USB drives. They work great and helps eliminate complications regarding the reader. Also, format flash as FAT or MS-DOS (same thing)

? may sound crazy but how big a card is it? I've found my Epson printer couldn't read any card over 512 meg (maybe it was 1 gig forget now). I had to call Epson to find this out. And the printer is only like 1 1/2 years old! Its a CX4600 all in one printer!

Well, we don't format the cards with the PC. We use the camera.
We are going to attempt it again. We re-formatted it (with the camera) and reloaded the card with her pics. I really don't know how old their systems are. And the card was just a small 128. I am making her do some of the work here to help her out. We will try the disk again tomorrow and if it doesn't work, I will email the few that she needs to print there. |

So, it didn't work again. Kinda dumbfounded about this. It should be working.
He asked for her to bring in my camera - umm, no. I will take it to school tomorrow and we will get to the bottom of it. ![]() |

So, I wanted to update you all and get a feeling for what happened because I am stumped.
She was able to pull certain pics with their card reader, with ours she was able to pull a few more and with our camera all of them. She got the work done, but why the selective reading? |
