hello, and once again it is time for me to ask a stupid bonehead question that makes me look like a greenhorned newbie. let's get started... i need to set up an ftp server and i was wondering what program works best for that. thanks!

You can also use Microsoft FTP Service, which i think is on the Windows CD.
If you have Windows NT/Win2k, you can use Internet Information Server (IIS) to host a web site or ftp site. IIS is built into it. |

WarFTP is way better than serv-U. Serv-U has a couple of vulnerablities, so if you use it, dont create an admin account for remote access. War has a steeper learning curve, but is deifnitely worth the time...
